Cell Proliferation and Viability Assays

Cell Proliferation and Viability Assays

Tailored Insights for Oncology and Women’s Health Drug Discovery

Unlocking Insights into Cell Health

At Inaphaea, we deliver a comprehensive portfolio of assays to evaluate cell growth, survival, and death. These assays provide reliable, quantitative data on how cells respond to treatment, supporting both early discovery and translational research. Our expertise lies in oncology and women’s health, with a focus on maximising the value of scarce or patient-derived material.

Our Assay Portfolio

We apply a diverse set of viability and proliferation assays that can be tailored to both 2D monolayers and 3D spheroid models:

  • Metabolic activity assays: MTT, MTS, XTT, resazurin/Alamar Blue
  • ATP quantification: CellTiter-Glo® (luminescence-based)
  • Membrane integrity assays: LDH release, dye exclusion (Trypan Blue, PI, SYTOX), DRAQ7
  • Nuclear staining: Hoechst, DAPI (for nuclei count & apoptosis)
  • Mitochondrial function: JC-1, TMRE/TMRM (membrane potential), Calcein-AM
  • DNA synthesis: BrdU or EdU incorporation (for proliferation studies)
  • High-content imaging readouts: multiparametric cell health profiling

By combining orthogonal and multiplexed approaches, we maximise data yield and integrity while minimising the risk of technology-specific artefacts. This ensures that each experiment provides deeper mechanistic insight, even when working with precious patient-derived material.

Applications

Our assays can be tailored to a wide variety of research needs, including:

  • Cytotoxicity profiling of novel compounds
  • Dose–response viability studies
  • Combination therapy evaluation
  • Mechanism of action studies (apoptosis, necrosis, cytotoxicity)
  • Long-term proliferation monitoring in 2D and 3D models

Patient-Derived and Primary Cell Access

Through our partnership with the Nottingham Bioresource, we provide direct access to freshly procured patient tissue and immune cell subsets, including PBMCs, T cells, B cells, NK cells, and macrophages. Alongside this, our established biobank of 66 oncology disease indications enables access to clinically relevant patient-derived models for viability and proliferation studies.

Reliable and Reproducible Workflows

Our assays are supported by automated liquid handling systems, ensuring precision and consistency in assay setup. While we do not operate large-scale high-throughput screening, our automation infrastructure delivers robust, reproducible data while retaining the flexibility needed for bespoke study designs.
